Remembering Beryl
Dear Beryl you’re gone, but not forgotten
With misty eyes we stand beholden
To the legacy you left, for the laughter you shared
And the people who smiled by you just being there
A garden of roses sway gently in the breeze
The purr of a cat, curled up of an eve
The words of a puzzle form patterns on the page
So happy you were with the wisdom of age
A love of animals, a song and a dance
Your sense of fun and taking pleasure in life
Always time for a chat and a smile, even in times of strife
The sands of time slip away endlessly
No more can we halt the tides of the sea
Your passing we know brings us pain so very real
The space you have left, no one else will ever fill
But in time our pain will ease and memories we will share
So many special moments with a woman so strong and so brave
A Mother, a Grandmother, a wife, a friend
A woman who was selfless, caring and giving to the end
As droplets of water form ripples on the lake
Your kindness and love spread joy in your wake
You were blessed with a gift that could make people smile
With just a cheeky look, or a bad joke, so let’s take a while
To remember our beloved Beryl – a true one of a kind
A Lady of courage - who leaves behind
A Son, a Daughter and two beautiful Grandchildren
Whose lives were enriched by your spirit and influence
You were the protector of family always wanting to please
Who sacrificed so much for those she held so dear
You cared for Ken so tenderly, raised two children and set them free
You battled so hard, privately; and shielded us from your pain, so we could not see
In truth, in the end, you could not live without Ken
And so he came calling, but we knew not when
Until you slipped away to join him hand in hand
Now you rest in peace – no more in pain – we understand
In us you live on and though tears we will shed
So privileged we are to have known someone so special
God bless you dear Beryl, we will love you forever
